BURGLAR PHYSICALLY ASSAULTS TEEN IN HER BEDROOM

TIPSTER ALERT>>> BURGLARY/ASSAULT SUSPECT WANTED • For perspective & privacy our camera is a few blocks north of actual location (64804) — Important information from the Joplin Police Department: “[Friday] night, just after midnight, it was reported to us that an unknown male suspect unlawfully entered a residence in the 2100 Block of South Alabama.” SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: • white male • possibly 30’s • wearing dark clothing • shortly after midnight (Fri pm into Sat am) JPD continues, “A juvenile female woke up and discovered him in her bedroom. The suspect physically assaulted and injured the juvenile before fleeing the residence on foot.” Capt Trevor Duncan tells Joplin News First, “We want the community to be aware of the incident and the main facts since there were some Facebook posts circulating already.” They are not releasing additional details at this time. Officers and detectives are actively seeking the suspect and investigating the case. If you have information or tips that can assist police call 417-623-3131 and speak to an officer or operator 24 hours a day.
