This is via text I got from Capt Trevor Duncan. I really appreciate him working with us so closely.  I got there about 11:15AM and stayed for a few hours answering questions privately.

Today at 9:56am the Joplin Police Department responded to 1717 S Range Line for a report of a male in a vehicle slumped over. The caller stated they could see the male was bleeding and could see a gun in the vehicle. Officers arrived and found a deceased elderly male. Officers and Detectives are conducting a death investigation. There are no indications of any danger to the public. Next of Kin notification has not been completed. - Capt Trevor Duncan

Ozark Center serve the 55+ in the community with a mental health center at the former Oak Hill (now Freeman East) called Senior Serenity.  It's a secure unit where this man could have had counselors and doctors and staff attend to his mental health and physical health needs.  

Obviously we don't know the situation but it gives us the chance to educate us all that there are programs for 55+ who are facing a difficult situation.
