SUBJECT: High Angle Rescue, Low Water Bridge
On Wednesday, 05 September, the Joplin Fire was dispatched to the area or Wildcat Park, near low water bridge at approximately 10:07 PM. 911 advised that two males had fallen off a cliff and were injured. This happened in the cliff area of what is known locally as Mother Nature’s Crack.
JFD arrived and had to use ropes to get down to the two males. They were assessed in place. They were then removed with a rope rigging system and hauled back to the top of the cliff. An ambulance was waiting for them there and they were transported to a local hospital.
Four JFD units 10 personnel assisted by Redings Mill Fire, Mets, and Newton County Ambulance. Units remained on scene until 11:43 PM.

(64804) -- Joplin News First was waiting to hear where the rescue operation would take the injured. To the top of the cliffs in a basket or via boat down river to the Wildcat Park Boat Ramp.

During our broadcast we don't reveal names, ages, vehicle left at the top of the cliffs, anything regarding the two people. If anyone in comments mentions someone there is a disclaimer we cannot control the public.

The decision from the Joplin Fire Department rescue was determined to not use the boats. We were poised at the boat ramp however when that was changed we hiked through the woods.

On arrival personnel found a well involved trash hauler and requested additional resources. Ladder 1C and Battalion 1C responded and assisted in extinguishment of the fire. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. (64801) -- Joplin Fire Department responded to 620 S Moffet this afternoon to reports of smoke coming from the upper floor of a 3 story home near 7th and S Moffet

As neighbors gathered in area yards many told Joplin News First that this home is a vacant home but they have seen activity there recently of homeless or vagrants in and around the home breaking in the structure.

During the beginning of the LIVE! broadcast the top window has smoke billowing out of the top window. But it stops abruptly when water starts shooting out from the fireman from the interior!

After extinguishing the fire quickly they perform interior searches and find no one inside and then begin their investigation.

We will post more details here as they become available so please follow this post for updates.

“On Sunday, May 13th at 1:01 PM, Ladder 1C, Rescue 3C, Engine 2C, Engine 3C, Battalion 1C, and Engine 4C responded to 620 S. Moffet for a reported structure fire. Units arrived to find a three story vacant dwelling with smoke coming from the attic.

Personnel entered the structure performing a search for occupants and an attack on the fire. No occupants were found in the structure and the fire was contained to the third floor and attic space.

There were no injuries and the fire remains under investigation with the Joplin Fire Marshall and JPD. Joplin fire was assisted by Metro Emergency Transport System/METS and Joplin Police Department.

Sunday was a busy Mother’s Day for C shift personnel responding to 30 emergency calls.”

(64804) — About 6:00 this evening a tipster let us know about a possible gas leak on East 32nd, just East of Rangeline. The project is going to take hours to repair.

An unnamed work crew had mistakenly hit a ‘significant’ gas line. No one was injured and the area was not evacuated. The public is not in danger.

Joplin Fire Department are on the task this evening of narrowing East 32nd to just two lanes as all Westbound lanes are closed.
